The Greenhouse is a co-working space located in Kingston, NY. With its simple yet creative atmosphere, the space was renovated to offer members of the community a place to collaborate, generate new ideas, host meetings/events and more. The building has been through 2-3 phases of renovation throughout the year with the approach of adding new layers to the existing building. Throughout the renovation process, the team discovered that the original features were worth restoring. For example, our team meticulously removed layers of carpet & flooring that were covering the existing floors and restored the original flooring. Additional areas of restoration included the plaster ceilings, tin ceilings, brick, molding. With such an appreciation for restoration, it was not just surface level materials that were restored, but wood beams and structural materials as well. Instead of using new beams for the new framing & additions, the team was able to use original wood from other aspects of the building that were being renovated for the new additions. Among many other features, one important update was making the first floor entirely ADA compliant. From the ADA compliant bathroom to the ramp, parking lot, etc. the space is now more inclusive of those with disabilities as well.
